"If We Don't Change, We Don't Grow. If We Don't Grow We Aren't Really Living."

- Gail Sheehy -

Hi, I'm Elise

LPC, LPCS, LAC, Licensed Family Court Mediator

I am a licensed professional counselor as well as a licensed addictions counselor in the state of South Carolina. Additionally, I provide licensing supervision to new clinicians entering the mental health field. I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology from the College of Charleston and my masters degree in Clinical Counseling from the Citadel.

I’ve been working in the mental health field for the past eightteen years and have worked in a variety of settings including an inpatient hospital unit, academic research, community outpatient facilities and private practice. This diverse background has provided opportunities to work with a variety of clients including adults, couples and family units. My areas of focus include drug and alcohol related problems, distorted eating habits and compulsive overeating, depression, anxiety, and women’s issues including trauma, healthy relationships and self esteem.

Award Winning Therapy

I am so thankful to have been recognized by our community in several ways over the years. Winning “Best of Charleston 2023” shows that my clients appreciate the compassionate, effective care I provide. Being named “West of Westie 2017” was such an honor and it fueled my passion for helping more people heal. And featuring my work in Skirt Magazine in 2016 helped spread the word about my unique approach to therapy even further. I am grateful for the confidence and trust my clients have placed in me.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an innovative therapy technique designed to alleviate distress and emotional pain from traumatic events.

Individual & Couples

Specializing in individual and couples therapy, I follow a cognitive behavioral therapy style in a client-centered structure.

I help individuals break the shame cycle related to drug and alcohol use, offering a safe space to address triggers and develop coping mechanisms.

Mediation, a confidential and non-adversarial process guided by a third-party mediator, can provide control and closure in even adversarial situations like divorce.

Licensing Supervision

As a therapist, I find immense reward in gaining a client's trust and being invited into their personal life, and I offer supervision to new clinicians and coaching.
